RADAQUA was contracted by Al Wathba Livestock Production (renamed Emirates Fish Farm) to design, construct and manage a 120 tonne grouper (Hammour) “proof of concept” production facility in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Construction commenced in June 2015 and after successful testing and commissioning of the facility, initial grow out production commenced in June 2016. The facility achieved the targeted biomass and ready for market product size within 12 months. The design and operations for this project have taken into account unique site factors including a desert location and high water salinity to successfully grow out a high value species with significant market demand both locally and across regional export markets.
RADAQUA is currently engaged in the development of a marine hatchery for the production of 2 million weaned juveniles per year for hamour as the principal species but with the capacity to breed across multiple species. Construction commenced in September 2017 and the facility has a target commissioning date of July 2018.
Additionally concept plans are being developed for the construction of additional grow out facilities on the site capable of producing 750 tonne of fin fish per annum. Conceptual plans have also been developed for the construction of an additional proof of concept runway tank system on site to aid in water treatment as well as for the grow out of prawn species
